Embracing your soft self to stay strong

Self-care is true empowerment. For the modern woman juggling a demanding life, taking a step back isn't a luxury—it is essential to protect your energy, cultivate mental strength, and replenish your creativity so you can take on the world.

Protecting your energy and setting boundaries

True wellness begins with knowing when to say no. Establishing healthy boundaries is the quietest yet most powerful form of self-preservation. Discover mindful practices, low-cost ways to unwind, and intentional daily routines that restore your peace and honor your time.

Being the fixer does not mean becoming the exhausted

It’s okay to be the strong woman in the room.

Matter of fact, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I don’t have to be the strongest woman in the room. I just want to be among strong women.

There is something beautiful about being surrounded by women who know how to carry themselves, speak their minds, handle their business, and show up when life gets complicated. Strength doesn’t have to be a competition. Sometimes it is simply the company you keep.

But here’s something I’ve learned about being a strong woman:

In real life, the room isn’t always filled with strong people.

Sometimes you are the strong one because someone else needs you to be.

Sometimes strength means lifting the box, handling the difficult customer, dealing with the crisis, making the phone call, solving the problem, or stepping in when everyone else is standing around wondering what to do.

Sometimes someone you love is under so much stress that they simply don’t have the capacity to carry one more thing. So you carry it for them.

And that is not weakness.

That is love. That is leadership. That is being dependable.

But I have a caution for strong women:

Protect your feminine energy.

Because there is a difference between being strong and constantly being placed in a position where you have to be everything.

Some of those expectations are obvious.

“Can you lift this box for me?”

“Can you kill this spider?”

“This customer is difficult. Can you handle her?”

“Can you take care of this?”

You know the ones.

But some expectations are much harder to recognize.

Someone in your life is going through a difficult season. They are overwhelmed, fragile, stressed, or simply not functioning at their best. So you begin handling things for them.

Then you handle a little more.

Then a little more.

You anticipate their needs. You protect their feelings. You solve their problems. You absorb their stress because you know they can’t handle it right now.

And somewhere along the way, you stop simply supporting them and start carrying them.

That’s where a strong woman has to pause.

Because being the fixer does not mean becoming the exhausted one.

Being capable does not mean you are always available.

Being dependable does not mean everyone gets unlimited access to your strength.

And being nurturing does not mean you have to absorb someone else’s chaos until there is none of you left.

There is a difference between helping someone carry something and quietly putting the entire weight on your own back.

One requires love.

The other requires a boundary.

I don’t believe strength should make a woman feel like she has to become the “man” in every room.

I want to be strong and soft.

Capable and cared for.

Independent and able to receive.

I want to be the woman who can handle the situation—but doesn’t automatically volunteer to handle everyone’s situation.

There is nothing unfeminine about saying:

“I can’t take that on right now.”

“You need to handle this one.”

“I can help, but I can’t do it for you.”

“I’m tired.”

“I need someone to take care of me today.”

Those aren’t signs that your strength is disappearing.

They are signs that your strength has boundaries.

Because the goal isn’t to become less powerful.

The goal is to make sure your power doesn’t become a resource everyone else consumes while you run empty.

So yes, I’ll be the strong woman in the room.

I’ll lift the box.

I’ll handle the difficult customer.

I’ll step up when something needs to be done.

I’ll show up for the people I love.

But I am also learning to ask myself a very important question:

“Who is making sure the strong woman is okay?”

And if the answer is no one, maybe that’s my cue to start making sure she is okay myself.

Pour the champagne.

Put pen to paper.

And remember:

You can be a strong woman without becoming a woman who carries everything.
